ICE Executed Her. Now We Fight Back – Americans Against ICE
No One Is Safe: Renée Good's Murder Fuels the Rising Call to End ICE Overreach
Renée stood for compassion, queer love, solidarity with immigrants, and kindness in the face of fear. She was one of us, and her loss should break your heart, ignite your anger, and spur you to action. Thousands of articles have mourned her, but we refuse to let it end there.
Americans Against ICE on the TRANS UNITED FUND is the movement born from Renée’s sacrifice. We gather these scattered stories—of lives lost, families terrorized, communities in fear—to expose the truth, demand accountability, and fight for change. Renée’s light inspires us to build a world where kindness wins over tyranny.
Imagine the terror: It’s a cold January morning in your own neighborhood. Federal agents swarm the streets, pounding on doors, detaining neighbors who’ve lived there for years. You see the fear in their eyes—parents hiding children, families frozen in panic. You stop to help, to offer a word of comfort, because that’s who you are: kind, protective, human. Then, in a split second, gunshots echo. Your life ends because you dared to stand up for the vulnerable.
This nightmare became reality for Renée Nicole Good on January 7, 2026, in Minneapolis. A 37-year-old U.S. citizen, queer poet, writer, devoted wife to Becca, and mother of three—including a bright 6-year-old son—she was described by her loved ones as “pure sunshine, pure love.” She literally sparkled, Becca said, with kindness radiating from her. Renée had recently moved to Minneapolis to rebuild after hardship, living her deepest belief: we are here to love, care for, and keep each other safe. She volunteered as a legal observer to document federal actions, teaching her children that compassion has no borders. She was queer, joyful, and fiercely protective—someone who would whistle in the face of fear to support immigrant neighbors. She was one of us.
The Devastating Moments
Renée and Becca had just dropped off their son at school when they saw the raid unfolding. They stopped to stand with frightened neighbors. Witnesses and cellphone videos show Renée calmly telling an agent, “It’s all good, dude, I’m not mad at you,” as conflicting orders flew. She tried to drive away. An ICE agent fired multiple shots into her vehicle at close range. Renée was killed instantly.
Becca watched her wife die in front of her. “We stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns,” she said. Now, Becca is left to raise their son alone, vowing to teach him Renée’s way: reject hate, choose kindness, and show a better path forward. Imagine the agony—your partner, your co-parent, gone forever. Your child is growing up without her bubbly laugh, her hugs, her daily lessons in love. If this can happen to a loving, law-abiding mother like Renée—a U.S. citizen with no intent to harm—couldn’t it happen in your town? To your family? To you?
Here is a beautiful photo of Renée with her radiant smile, capturing the warmth and joy that touched so many lives:
A Nation’s Outpouring of Grief and Resolve
The response has been immense. A verified GoFundMe for Becca, their son, and Renée’s two older children closed after raising over $1.5 million from more than 38,500 donors—funds placed in a trust to honor her memory. Vigils and protests have spread nationwide: thousands in Minneapolis barricaded the street with candles and flowers, while crowds in Seattle, Nashville, Chicago, Boston, and beyond chanted her name and demanded justice.
These powerful images from the memorials and protests capture the heartbreak and growing solidarity—streets lined with tributes in freezing cold, signs reading “Justice for Renée,” and communities uniting in sorrow and determination:
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called the official account “bullshit” and demanded ICE leave the city. Governor Tim Walz proclaimed January 9 as “Renee Good Day.” But Renée’s death is part of a larger crisis.
The Terrifying Pattern: Fear in Every Community
2025 was ICE’s deadliest year in over two decades, with 32 people dying in custody from neglect, medical failures, overcrowding, and despair. Raids have escalated, with multiple shootings terrorizing neighborhoods—often targeting immigrants but ensnaring U.S. citizens too. Families hide from school drop-offs, parents fear deportation, and entire communities live in constant anxiety. Renée, protecting her neighbors, became a victim. This proves: no one is truly safe. The raids could come to your street tomorrow. Your neighbor, your friend, your loved one could be next.
