A federal court found that 14 transgender women in federal custody face serious risks of violence, sexual assault, and irreparable harm if transferred under Trump’s prison policy.
Thank goodness for that. People are so ignorant. I’m glad at least these women have a stay. I did contract sexual assault trauma counselling work in a maximum security women’s prison in Aotearoa New Zealand more than 30 years ago and trans women had gender affirming care continued on medical grounds even then. Thank you for info.
Your experience makes it even harder to dismiss the risks as hypothetical. The court did not create those dangers—it recognized harms that people working closest to survivors have understood for years.
My hope of that if they win, then others can fight the same way. Transwomen are women! They do not hurt people like cis white men do.
Exactly. A win here could give others a path to challenge policies that put trans women directly in danger.
