Man Charged With Murder in Death of Trans Woman Persia Amarra Conway
A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of Persia Amarra Conway, a 33-year-old trans woman whose body was found in Brays Bayou in Houston last month.

Persia Amarra Conway was found dead on May 25 in a stormwater catch basin near Brays Bayou.
According to the Houston Police Department, people walking along 8950 Country Creek Drive found her body near the bayou around 8:15 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the suspect as Daniel Arnulfo Ceron, 22. Ceron has been charged with murder in connection with Persia’s death.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences classified Persia’s manner of death as a homicide.
Houston police said Ceron was arrested Wednesday by the HPD Westside Division Gang Unit. Police said he later confessed to his role in Persia’s death.
The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
The arrest is a major update in a case that began with Persia’s body being found near the bayou and her death later being ruled a homicide.
The murder charge does not close the case. It moves the investigation into a new stage.
Persia was 33 years old and a trans woman. Her name and identity remain central as police continue investigating the case.
Her death drew attention from community members and advocates after she was identified as a transgender woman killed in Texas. The arrest gives the public more information about what police believe happened, but Houston police say the homicide investigation remains ongoing.
Now that a suspect has been charged, the case should be followed closely. That means tracking the prosecution, reporting updates accurately, and keeping Persia Amarra Conway’s name attached to the story.
