It hurts my heart so much that people who don't neatly fit into a particular box are often either ignored, overlooked, disrespected or become victims of violent crimes. It's dehumanizing. This regime has not only given bigots a voice, but has seemingly given them the right to hate for hate's sake.

That is the cruelty of it: people are pushed outside the lines first, then punished for being vulnerable there.

Dehumanization makes violence feel permitted, and that is why naming Marlow’s life matters.
